Culture of Encounter: Opening to the Emerging Future

In late May I was in Rome for a meeting -- actually, it was a virtual meeting. The Union of Superiors General (USG) and the International Union of Superiors General (UISG) came together for a joint meeting. The theme was “Becoming Sisters, Becoming Brothers: Consecrated Life at the Service of a Wounded World.” It was the desire of the leadership of both organizations to look at religious life in a post-COVID world. Since we gathered during the Easter season, the story of Emmaus was with us as we were aware of the Risen One who walks with us, ready to open our minds and hearts. The invitation to our upcoming assembly is a similar opportunity to open our minds and hearts in a way that will lead to transformation. (Full text is on page 2 in PDF below)
