A Year to Remember -- A Year to Anticipate

I stare at my computer on this Advent Sunday pondering the feelings of Advent: hoping, waiting, and longing for the One-Who-Arrives, Emmanuel, God-with-Us. I wonder about the millions of our sisters and brothers, near and far, whose lives have been upended by the events of the year 2020: the layered crises of a global pandemic, economic stress, racial unrest, government breakdown, and climate urgency to name but a few. I try to imagine their hopes and longings. I feel my own heart and mind in sync with theirs as, together, we hope and long for health of all kinds: physical, financial, relational, political, cultural, social, and ecological.
