LCWR gathered teams of congregation leaders, justice promoters, and communicators in April 2024 in Pittsburgh, precisely at the site of the confluence of three rivers, a union that became symbolic for the work of these three roles that serve religious life.
Entitled “Transforming Grace,” the event provided 241 participants, representing 86 LCWR congregations from nearly every region, the opportunity to deepen connections, understand better the work of transformation of consciousness, and explore ways institutes might carry this work forward. Based on input from keynoters Chris Koellhoffer, IHM and Elise Garcia, OP, the attendees had opportunities to discuss how to address the polarization and division experienced in various sectors of society and practice with tools that can assist with this work. The congregation teams of three also had opportunities to work on applying some of their learnings to the work called for in their own institute’s chapter documents and direction statements.
